After Mrs Maloney's lesson about the six categories of simple machines, it was time to apply what we learned for this group assessment task.

Here the girls had to work cooperatively to categorize some everyday machines we use to make our lives easier. Some were decided upon quite easily while others caused debate around the Form and Function, two of our Key Concepts.

The Guillotine for instance caused a debate about whether it was a pulley or a wedge. We learned that some of these device are compound machines, or those which require more than one simple machine to operate.
