Brain Week in Auckland

Thank you to Mrs Russ for reminding us that Brain Week is coming up in March. Last year lots of girls from Y4 attended and had loads of fun.

4LO become REAL Scientists

Today was the first time the Junior School has ever dissected the brain of a lamb. We had to use the brain map to look for different parts.

My Amazing Brain

Our Shared Poem this week has been 'My Amazing Brain' by Lisa Wiseman. We labelled a diagram of our brain and used the Comic Book app to write about 'Our Amazing Brains.'

We have been learning about the brain!

Did you know that the brain has three main parts?

Brainstem, Cerebrum and Cerebellum. They all play a special part in making sure our brain functions correctly.

Our brain is protected by our skull and cerebrospinal fluid.

We couldn't believe how heavy our brain was!

Inquiry into Who We Are

Our Central Idea for this inquiry is, Learning is a fundamental characteristic of life.

The lines of inquiry that we will investigate in depth over the next few weeks will be:

• The different ways of learning
• Ways of creating an effective learning environment
• The consequences of learning in a selected range of contexts

The learner profiles we will focus on throughout this inquiry are Knowledgeable, Open-Minded and Balanced.
