After Mrs Maloney's lesson about the six categories of simple machines, it was time to apply what we learned for this group assessment task.

Here the girls had to work cooperatively to categorize some everyday machines we use to make our lives easier. Some were decided upon quite easily while others caused debate around the Form and Function, two of our Key Concepts.

The Guillotine for instance caused a debate about whether it was a pulley or a wedge. We learned that some of these device are compound machines, or those which require more than one simple machine to operate.

Check out the blue group's efforts.

Uniform Message from Mrs Brewin

For the first two weeks of Term 4 until Labour weekend students may wear either full summer uniform (no jumpers to be worn with this please) or full winter uniform.

Blazers must be worn with the winter uniform but are optional with the summer uniform, except for formal occasions.

There are a number of formal occasions in Term 4 and teachers will let the girls know of specific uniform requirements well in advance.

Please ensure that all items of clothing are well named.

Dear Allegro Voce Parents,

Allegro Voce will be performing in next Monday's Junior School assembly (Monday 22 September). I would like to invite you to come and hear your daughter's perform as they been working really hard in their rehearsals to prepare for this special assembly performance.

In order to be prepared, I would like the Allegro Voce girls to meet me in the Junior School Hall at 8am on Monday morning for a quick warm up. The girls are to perform in their school uniform (no blazers) and have bright blue choir ribbons in their hair.

Hope to see you all there.

Kind regards,

Mehernaz Pardiwalla
